Pottery Studio Membership Information
OPEN POTTERY OPENS
Englewood, Florida
Monday, January 2nd, 2012 marks the first day of operation for The Open Pottery at The Open Studio on Old Englewood Road in Englewood, Florida. The Open Studio is signing on members to the brand new pottery studio managed by Englewood resident and potter, Cricket Thorne. Lessons are starting and studio space is now available to area residents and tourists. This is all part of The Open Studio's mission of encouraging healthy living and creativity.
The Open Pottery is a member based program welcoming all ages and levels of ability. Members will have 24/7 access to the Studio, and use of all supplies and equipment for a low monthly fee. Firing fees are not included. Cricket will be available as mentor to members on Mondays from 3-8 PM and Saturdays during the day for questions and help.
In addition to it's membership program, The Open Pottery will offer an ongoing weekly 2 part project based workshop on Tuesday's from 3-8 PM. Each first week will be building the project and the second week will be glazing the project, with a continuing rotation of new projects every 2 weeks. Cricket will introduce different techniques with each project giving participants a wide range of experience with clay. Each session includes firing fees. Children welcome with adult supervision.
Cricket will also offer private and small group lessons and she, and other guest potters, will offer workshops in throwing on the wheel, hand building, raku and pit firing, and other specialty techniques.
