Todd Tracy - Chairman

I moved to Englewood in 1977 as the great grandson of a local pioneering land investor, the grandson of a gifted and accredited artist, and the son of an accomplished writer, to become the husband of Mary Tracy and the father of two great kids. As the years passed Mary and I were able to purchase, restore, and still share with the community, what remains of an 80-acre art colony established by Lois Bartlett Tracy, one of Englewood's most successful artists.

In 1996, I was elected to the Englewood Water District, serving a four-year term on the Board of Supervisors. In 2007 I was appointed to serve on Englewood's Community Redevelopment Area Advisory Board, and have recently been re-appointed to my fourth term.

Through the years I've enjoyed many community associations and organizational memberships. But it was joining the Board at The Open Studio years ago that changed my life. These years have been a refreshing reminder of what the private sector can accomplish without the public-sector constraints. The currency of The Open Studios' success has been the dreams and the ideas that everyone brought to the table, and labored so hard to achieve.

The Open Studio has bloomed into one of our community's greatest success stories transitioning from a struggling educational site to a thriving Artisan Incubation Center with a growing variety of talents and offerings. It has been an honor and a privilege to participate in the development of one of Englewood's finest non-profits... The Open Studio.

Evelyn Dales - Founder

Evelyn Dales co-founded The Open Studio with her husband Greg and a small group of courageous souls in 2010.  Her passions of property renovation, gardening, and art have merged into a full-time occupation, with a never-ending palette.  When she moved to Englewood from NH in 2000, she left behind her first Open Studio project, housed in an old restaurant, that focused only on art in it's many forms.   But thanks to the Florida climate and the RCTOD (arts overlay district) this Open Studio is, and can be, so much more.

Andrea Shlasko - Board Member

Andrea Shlasko is originally from NYC, and met her husband Michael while working at NYU as a computer operator.  They married, moved to the burbs, and raised two sons.  She finally got her college degree in 1999, earning a BS in computer studies while working full time and riding herd on two teenagers.  Andrea worked in the computer field until her retirement in 2005, when she and her husband Michael moved to Venice in 2005.

She worked for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast, Inc. until she and Michael retired for good in January 2010.  Since then, she has written a database for Literacy Volunteers of South Sarasota County, chaired two quilt shows and is currently President and Webmaster of the Venice Area Quilters' Guild. She is poised to start her 8th year on Sea Turtle Patrol for the Coastal Wildlife Club, while also serving as Webmaster, and escorts for Planned Parenthood in Sarasota.  She fell in love with The Open Studio when she got a call for HELP in publishing back in January of 2011 - and published the first brochure for the February 2011 events.  Since then she has served as webmaster, Board member and Official Proofreader for TOS.  In spite of the fact that she "doesn't do healthy" and no longer serves as webmaster, Andrea is dedicated to The Open Studio, and is proud and honored to serve on the Board.
